One of the first biomethane stations in the Czech Republic was built in Litomyšl
The station produces natural gas from biogas, which comes from animal and vegetable agricultural waste, and then injects it into the Gasnet gas network. It also includes a compressed natural gas (CNG) filling station in the adjacent premises in the village of Dolní Újezd. The station is an innovation of the original biogas station on the cooperative’s premises. Biogas no longer has to be used only for cogeneration of electricity and heat.
The investment of more than 50 million crowns was secured in practice by the companies HUTIRA – BRNO and HUTIRA green gas. According to the cooperative, this is the first biomethane production technology in the Czech Republic that is connected to an agricultural biogas station, CNG filling station and gas injection into the gas network. “The start of normal operation is planned for December this year,” said Ivo Hutira, managing director of HUTIRA – BRNO.
