Industrial companies are recycling more of their wastewater. They are increasing their capacity or saving costs, and subsidies are also an attraction.
Domestic industrial companies are also increasingly interested in efficient water management and are therefore focusing on recycling wastewater that cannot be treated by conventional municipal treatment plants. For example, companies use recycling to deal with limited withdrawals from waterworks, while the treated water is usually used as utility water in their operations. At the same time, they often no longer have to invest in technologies costing hundreds of millions of euros, but use energy from waste heat for part of the recycling process. According to experts, the popularity of recycling will continue to grow, whether due to subsidies or possible changes in legislation, which does not yet use the term recycled wastewater.
