Biomethane as an alternative to natural gas? In the Czech Republic, it can replace 5 percent of consumption in the next few years
The decline in alternatives for the Czech energy mix has become even stronger in connection with the current debate on the possible restriction of Russian gas supplies. One of its most natural alternatives is biomethane, which according to experts in the Czech Republic can replace around 5 percent of current consumption. A second biomethane station is currently being built in the country, but for a faster increase in their number, it will be necessary to change the energy strategy for the existing biogas stations and wastewater treatment plants. The role of the state and its support of these projects will also be key.
