Today, on 22 March, we mark World Water Day – a day that highlights the fact that water is the foundation of life and social development. This year’s theme, “Where water flows, equality grows,” reminds us that access to safe drinking water has a direct impact on people’s health, education and employment opportunities. Yet today, approximately one in four people worldwide still does not have access to safely managed drinking water.

In the Czech Republic, the situation is significantly more favourable – around 98% of the population has access to safe drinking water. Even here, however, there is room for improvement, particularly when it comes to losses in distribution networks, which still reach around 15% (2024). This is where technological solutions play an essential role.

At our company, we have long focused on technologies that help ensure high-quality water from its source through to safe distribution to end users. Under the HUTIRA CCW brand, we supply mobile and containerised water treatment plants designed for municipalities, industrial facilities, hotels, aquaparks and emergency water supply. These systems are capable of efficiently treating both surface and groundwater and enable fast and reliable provision of drinking water even under demanding conditions. Our technologies are already in operation not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.

Our portfolio also includes a wide range of water infrastructure fittings that contribute to the safe and efficient operation of water distribution networks. These include hydrants, gate valves, butterfly valves, couplings, control valves, repair materials, as well as solutions for service connections. This portfolio is further complemented by water meter chambers, among which the MODULO model stands out with more than 79,000 installations across the Czech Republic. In addition to supplying technologies, we are also involved in the modernisation and reconstruction of water infrastructure.

World Water Day is a good opportunity to reflect on how we manage water – today and in the future. At HUTIRA, we have long been committed to this field through technologies, water infrastructure solutions and specific projects that help keep water safe, accessible and efficiently managed.
