In the past days, a contract was executed, the aim of which was the reconstruction of the valve chamber to ensure a stable supply of drinking water for the company FONTEA a.s. At the same time, it was necessary to solve the problem with pressure peaks in the pipeline. FONTEA a.s. is one of the largest producers of non-alcoholic beverages in the Czech Republic and is also the most significant consumer of drinking water in the region, with an average daily consumption of approximately 1,000 m³.

Our delivery included new stainless steel pipe fittings, including installation. We also supplied and installed the necessary valves – gate valves, filters, reducing valves, and a safety valve.

The original solution was replaced by a new concept that separates the pipeline supplying FONTEA company from the pipeline leading to the town of Veselí. A reducing valve was installed on each branch. According to the specification, a multifunctional reducing valve with pressure regulation, check valve, and flow restriction functions was installed on the pipeline designated for FONTEA. A CLA-VAL safety valve was installed before this valve, which serves to eliminate surges in the pipeline, which arise when handling valves inside the FONTEA premises. Both valves reduce the pressure from 9 bar at the inlet to 4.7 bar at the outlet.

Thanks to the newly designed pipeline, the supply capacity has been increased for both the town of Veselí nad Lužnicí and the company FONTEA a.s.

Part of the contract was prepared in our workshop in Popůvky, where we prepared the individual weldments. The main phase consisted of demanding on-site assembly directly in the valve chamber. First, the original pipeline was shut down and drained, and part of the distribution system and valves were dismantled. Then we started the assembly of the new piping and accessories. On-site welding required high precision due to the connection to existing fixed points. The new routes copy the original sharp angle of pipe crossing. Finally, the piping was anchored to the walls, floor, and ceiling to ensure its stability even at high operating pressure and volumetric flow.

The commissioning of the reducing valves was carried out by our CLA-VAL service technicians in accordance with the operator’s specifications.

The entire operation was demanding to prepare, and all work had to be completed during a single twelve-hour shutdown. We thank FONTEA a.s. and also the operator – the company ČEVAK a.s. – for their cooperation, preparatory work, and securing the pipeline shutdown.
