Last week, company owner Ivo Hutira took part in a stimulating debate organized by the Brno Regional Chamber of Commerce, featuring the Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík. The discussion was moderated by the chamber’s director Čeněk Absolon.

Together with the other participants, he debated current issues related to energy, the circular economy, environmental protection, and legislative challenges. The topics discussed included support for renewable resources, the construction of battery factories, the incinerator project in Skalice, animal protection, and the establishment of furniture banks. Another important topic was the reconstruction of the Dukovany nuclear power plant, as well as waste management.

It is the topic of waste management that is closely related to the greening of the gas industry. The possibility of using secondary processing of waste materials from biogas plants for biomethane production and its subsequent injection into the gas network is an important part of the energy mix and contributes to ensuring the state’s energy security.

The goals of both the EU and the Czech Republic in the development of biomethane are very ambitious, and their fulfillment will not be possible without creating a stable and supportive environment, which includes not only suitable legislative conditions but also targeted support and investments in this sector.

  • 2023: biomethane production in the Czech Republic 1.2 million m³
  • 2024: biomethane production in the Czech Republic 7.5 million m³
  • 2030 (goal): 500 million m³

Potential 2030: 10% of natural gas consumption.

This graph clearly shows how significant a leap is needed to achieve the goals by 2030.

  • Orange dashed line: MoE Action Plan goal for 2030 (500 million m³)

Our company has been developing the renewable energy sector, especially in the area of biomethane, for a long time. In response to the Ministry of the Environment’s proposal to support the injection of biomethane into the gas network, company owner Ivo Hutira stated:

“Thank you, Minister, for your proactive work in the field of the environment and for the support proposal, which can significantly contribute to the development of injecting biomethane from waste and agricultural biogas plants into the gas network. This step can greatly help in fulfilling the goals mentioned above.”

Thanks also go to the Brno Regional Chamber of Commerce, led by Čeněk Absolon, for the opportunity to be part of this inspiring event, and we look forward to more such meetings.
