Continuous water supply even during a blackout – a modern solution for waterworks
Do you need peace of mind and certainty that you will deliver water at the right time and in sufficient quantity? Then choose a backup solution that includes effective measures to ensure continuous operation – and a good night’s sleep.
One of these solutions is CLA-VAL microturbines – sophisticated, space-saving devices that allow the operation of control valves even in the event of a complete power outage. This will ensure the continuous supply of drinking water to consumers, independently of control room management.
The Francis microturbine has sufficient parameters to be able to control a communication unit or a CLA-VAL servo actuator for an indefinitely long period.

Another solution is to supplement existing remotely controlled regulating valves with a second, independent circuit, which is activated precisely during a total power outage. It then again provides the operator with an unlimited supply of drinking water to target customers. It is possible to supplement any already installed CLA-VAL regulating valve in this way and thus achieve the desired goal, which is undoubtedly a permanent supply of drinking water.

There are also other alternatives such as the combination of floatless regulation with remote control. In this case, thanks to different operating levels, control states from the control room are distinguished, i.e., everything works electrically remotely, and then the blackout mode itself, where the regulating valve automatically switches to level-based control and controls the inflow using hydrostatic pressure without the dispatcher’s intervention, and for an unlimited time.
