We are responding to current environmental and legislative challenges with a concrete solution. In collaboration with the Institute of Process Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of VUT in Brno, we are developing an innovative compact recycling unit for the treatment of wastewater from wineries.

The wine industry today faces increasing demands for sustainable water management. For every liter of wine produced, there is up to four times the amount of wastewater, which contains organic pollution, acids, and volatile ethanol. Conventional treatment plants are often insufficient, take up a lot of space, and do not allow for the reuse of water.

Our goal is to offer winemakers of all sizes a technology that will enable:

  • to recycle at least 90% of the wastewater back into operation,
  • to separate the ethanol component for further commercial use,
  • to reduce the volume of residual sludge to a minimum and use it for energy.

The key elements of the new unit are a multi-stage vacuum evaporator with a heat pump and a sorption column with rectification. The result is extraordinary efficiency, flexibility, and a compact design in a modular container solution that is easy to install directly in the winery.

We are responding to the demands of winemakers who are looking for an effective, economical, and ecological solution. Thanks to the collaboration with the academic sector, we are bringing an innovation into practice that has a real impact,” explains Petr Hajný, Sales Director of HUTIRA s.r.o.

The technology reflects the modern Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) approach — the effort to eliminate wastewater discharge and maximize the use of all components. At a time when responsible water management is a key part of every sustainable business, we help transform wastewater from an environmental burden into a valuable resource.
