Modernization of the Hamr Water Treatment Plant
We have completed the modernization of the Hamr Water Treatment Plant near Suchdol nad Lužnicí, which now ensures high-quality drinking water for the residents of eighteen surrounding municipalities. This project represents a key step towards securing and improving the region’s drinking water supply.
The realization of the entire project was extensive and demanding—the original plan to start work had to be postponed by almost two weeks due to unexpected floods that inundated the water source for several days and blocked access to the facility. Despite these unforeseen complications, the reconstruction was successfully completed, and we handed over the plant at the end of January this year. A trial operation is currently underway to verify the correct functionality of all new technologies.
The goal of the reconstruction was the automation of the control system, during which we merged three existing systems into one more efficient, in-house system, known as HUTIRA HUCS (Measurement and Regulation). This system was customized to the specific requirements of the operator, ČEVAK a.s., and now ensures more reliable monitoring of the water treatment plant’s operation. The project also included the replacement of regulating valves for three open sand filters, the installation of new flow and turbidity measuring devices, the modernization of chemical dosing, and many other improvements. Our implementation of this control system was not only extensive but also the most complex to date, and included the supply and installation of five distribution boards, four of which are directly controlled.
A particular challenge was performing the work while the plant was in full operation, which required precise planning and coordination to ensure that at least two of the three filters were constantly running. We are pleased that we successfully managed this demanding task, thereby guaranteeing an uninterrupted supply of drinking water.
The satisfaction of both the client and the operator is the best reward and feedback for us. We are delighted that they have approached us with proposals for further automation possibilities for the treatment plant. We are currently working on a design for the reconstruction of the distribution boards, the automation of control and management of water pumping from the Milan wells, and also the expansion of real-time water quality monitoring.
The success of this project is primarily thanks to our experienced staff from Mistřín and fitters from Popůvky. Their expertise, dedication, and teamwork were key to the high-quality and timely completion of the contract.
